What program do I need to listen to SimKast?

Basically any program that will play *.pls files can listen to the station. This includes your default mp3 player.
We have found that Winamp, QuickTime, Real Player Vs 8+ and IMac's iTunes all work fine.
We've also noticed that Winamp seems to play it the best as well as send out the best quality for the station though.

Can I use windows media player to listen to your station?

Microsoft Media Player is not preferred for listening to SimKast since some versions have a hard time recognizing *.pls files; however, the later versions might play if you follow the instructions link found at the top of the main site.

I am using Winamp to listen. Why does the music sound distorted?

If you feel like the music is sounding distorted when you are using Winamp to listen, your EQ may be on and ergo distorting the music. To turn the EQ off in Winamp, click on the EQ button in the main window so that you can view it and make sure the "ON" button is not lit up. If all the songs are still sounding distorted, please contact tech support at tech-support@simkast.com.

Where do I file a complaint or make a suggestion?

Your feedback on our station is essential in making SimKast what it is. We are a station that is shaped by our listeners. We value your opinion and want to hear what you think. Now keep in mind that our DJs have one policy regarding music content. We play 2 types of music in the following order and priority. 1: Whatever is requested or dedicated. 2: Whatever the DJs want to play. Our DJs play what they want to hear ONLY after they play all requested songs that they have. If you have a complaint regarding songs being played on the air, just remember that we are playing what other listeners are requesting.

If you would still like to send in a complaint or suggestion, please email Rusty.

How do I make a request?

The best way to send in a request or dedication is by contacting the DJ who is on. Most of the time they will tell you how to get a hold of them. We use AOL Instant Messenger as our preferred program to communicate. DJs will give their AIM name out to take requests. Some of our DJs will also accept requests through their personal SimKast email (listed by their name on the "Staff" page), SimKast chat room or in TSO. They will tell you which city they are broadcasting live from and the name in that city. As well we often have field requesters in other cities taking requests for us. You will also see the current DJ with a link to them in AIM, the current song playing, and a link to their playlist on the main page of our website.

What happened to the Partner Lots?

SimKast has tried to maintain an active Partner Lot system in TSO since we started on air. We have always gave out 100% to bringing our dedicated listeners and supporters free streaming audio, free live remotes, free listing on our website even a free 30 second commercial we play during our shows. The agreement for all of that FREE stuff was that the partner lots in game would recommend us to their visitors - which never happened. After 2 years of trying to find new ways of making this work with more of a benefit to SimKast, we have decided that it just won't work and we have cancelled a formal Partner Lot system. If you would still like to support us, we can arrange a banner exchange by contacting Rusty.

How can I request an on-location broadcast (Remote)?

Live on-location broadcasts are probably the best way to have a great time with the jockeys of SimKast. Our DJs will come to your gaming area and broadcast live there during some or all of their shift if they have an account set up for that game. Most of our DJs determine where to broadcast from by "auctioning" their shift on the air. For example, they may announce their gaming area and name on the air and go to the area that messages them first. If you know of a certain DJ who broadcasts in your gaming area and know when they will be the air, you can send that DJ an email (listed beside their name on the staff page). It's alway best for you to contact the DJ directly and work out the time/date for your Remote broadcast. The more information you offer the easier it is to book the remote. If the DJ is not on air at the time of your event, then it will be next to impossible to have that DJ there, so you should give at LEAST 7 days notice. We can not guarantee all remote bookings. Please confirm all information directly with the DJ you wish to book for your event.

Can anybody request a custom promotional liner?

We no longer do custom promotional liners. If you would like to make an announcement please send an email to Rusty@SimKast.com 2-7 days prior to the event and it will be confirmed with you.

You DO NOT have to be a partner lot to be eligible for announcements.
